Afghan filmmaker Shahrbanoo Sadat’s film Parwareshgah (The Orphanage) has the mention of Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan. That’s not it; the film is highly influenced by Bollywood fantasies and their stories. The Orphanage set during the final years of Soviet occupation and the advent of the Mujahideen is about a teenage Afghan boy who sells movie tickets on black to seek escape from his troubles of life in Bollywood-inspired fantasies. Also in the film, his room is plastered with pinups of Amitabh Bachchan.
