Why did Alia Bhatt extend ‘jordaar’ support to Ranveer Singh for his ‘nanga-ka-panga’ controversy?

Rather funnily quirky that the flamboyant swag-icon super-actor Ranveer Singh often makes headlines by being ‘dressed-to-kill’ in a bizarre outrageous way. This time the macho, energetic sinewy Singh has brazenly ‘undressed-to-kill’, so it seems! With his multiple nude images which he posed for the ‘Paper’ magazine shoot.  As expected, the energetic, charismatic actor received both torrents of praise and volleys of criticism. Many film-industry colleagues and ardent female fans praised ‘hot-male’ Ranveer for “being brave, bold with aesthetic images that are not vulgar and obscene”.  While hundreds of internet users trolled him as well and reacted that the shoot and images were “indecent”.

During the trailer launch of ‘Darlings’ (Netflix) the other day, Alia Bhatt was asked about her reaction to the brazen trolling that has confronted Ranveer and she candidly said, “I don’t like anything negative being said about my favorite Ranveer Singh so I can’t tolerate this question.” The actor then paused and smiled, before adding, “I love him and he is eternally favorite to all of us. He has given so much to the movies so we should only give him love.”

Considering that Ranveer and Alia are working together as co-stars in Karan Johar’s upcoming film Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani this favorable reaction from the Bhatt babe, was not unexpected.    They have worked together earlier in the hit movie Gully Boy as well.  Alia and Ranveer also appeared together in the first episode of Koffee With Karan Season 7, Karan Johar’s popular talk show. The two actors spoke about their bonding and how they became really close friends while shooting for Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani.

It is common knowledge by now, that the Mumbai Police on Tuesday has reportedly registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Ranveer Singh for posting his nude photographs on social media which have gone viral. The FIR was reportedly filed upon a complaint lodged at the Chembur police station by one Lalit Tekchandani, (who runs an NGO) under sections 292 (sale of obscene books), 293 (sale of obscene objects to young people), 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code and provisions of the Information Technology Act. The FIR stated that India has a “good culture” but due to such pictures, everyone’s sentiments are hurt.

As of now both ‘Jayeshbhai Jordaar’ star-actor Ranveer Singh and his celeb-heroine wife Deepika Padukone have maintained a ‘dignified silence’ and have not yet reacted to the torrent of unfavorable hue and cry. Neither have they disclosed as yet how they plan to legally counter this latest explicit skin-show crisis/controversy triggered by Ranveer’s super-bold images.     Whatever the final outcome, it is evidently obvious that both Ranveer and the magazine have by default merited free sensational publicity.

Curiously enough, ‘Padmaavat’ actor Ranveer had marched across in his swag-style in a dare-bare scene as part of a ballroom party situation in the movie ‘Befikre’ (2016). Which was then apparently well-received by most of the theatre audiences.  It may be recalled here that way back in 2006 when Deepika Padukone as a super-model had posed for the Kingfisher calendar in skimpy outfits, she had ensured that it was within decency limits.
