After winning hearts at Moscow Film Festival 2021 with his debut Marathi Film Puglya, Director Vinod Peter has now added two more feathers to his already overflowing cap of awards! This time round, Puglya has won the ‘Best Film’ award at the prestigious ‘The Gladiator Film Festival (TGFF) Turkey’ and also the ‘Best Director’ award at Onyko Estonia. Puglya, which very sensitively portrays the numerous feelings of kids and their undying sentimental attachments, has, till date, won over 47 awards (and counting) and recognitions at numerous film festivals globally.

Speaking about the film’s latest achievements, Peter said, “Honestly speaking, I am now running out of words to express my emotions. I am completely overwhelmed at all the awards that my film has been winning at the international levels. As a child, I always used to dream about Indian films scoring big at international level. Today, I can proudly say that, God has been extremely kind to me; I have been able to achieve my childhood dream of taking Puglya, a completely Indian film at an international level. It’s not just about the official selections; it’s also the innumerable awards that my film has been getting at several festivals, which makes me feel proud as a film maker. In the same breath let me also add that, what makes me furthermore happy is to see a Marathi film like Puglya being recognised in various countries. There have been Film Festivals wherein Puglya happened to be the first Indian film to be selected or awarded! It is extremely satisfying to hold our prestigious Indian flag on an international level.”

Puglya has already made a clean sweep of awards at many topmost events like Moscow International Film Festival in Russia, London, Italy, Sweden, Australia, Philippines, Iran, Argentina, Lebanon, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Spain, Philippines, Israel, USA, and Canada. Needless to say, seeing the excitement at international arena, Vinod Peter and his team are extremely keen to see the response from the Indian audience.
