Educationist Raj Kushwaha’s quench for good cinema makes him one of the producers of Rahat Kazmi and Hina Khan’s LINES

Rahat Kazmi and Hina Khan’s Lines has started streaming on Vootselect and receiving excellent reviews all across the globe. The film was much awaited after its first look at Cannes and its win at New York cinematography awards. Among all the praises for Lines and its makers a new name came into the spotlight- Raj Kushwaha: a name synonymous with quality education, is a pioneer in technical education and the founder of Axis chain of colleges in India. But wondering why are we discussing him here?  It’s because Rahat Kazmi’s film, Lines, released on July 29, 2021, and he is one of the major producers of the film.

So, let’s know how an educationist landed in the world of cinema! So, Raj Kushwaha, who is known for providing quality education to young people, also has a great love for sensible cinema. He’s not a big fan of commercial movies and hence, was always looking for such a filmmaker, who had a quench of good quality cinema and that’s how he ended up meeting Rahat Kazmi and Shoib Nikash Shah. It was not a random meeting though as the former was watching the duo climbing the stepping stones to success, walking down the red carpet in Cannes, and bagging back-to-back international awards for their quality scripts & wonderful plots world over.

That’s how, Raj Kushwaha partnered with Rahat Kazmi Films to jointly produce Lines, which has a wonderful storyline with a gist of emotional touch. As you know, Lines is a tale of love divided by borders. An innocent yet gritty story of a young girl Nazia (played by Hina Khan) representing the pains of the people of Kashmir, who have been the sufferers of hatred between the two countries. Raj Kushwaha, who holds a deep love for literature, loved the script and the idea behind making this film.

He is of the view that cinema and society are reflections of each other but unfortunately, filmmakers these days run after commercial success and ignore good quality cinema. Consequently, good films are taking a back seat, which shouldn’t be the case. He believes that cinema should inspire people and its plot should be motivating enough, bringing a change in the society, something that people learn and take back with them! Before this, Raj Kushwaha had also partnered with Shoib Nikash Shah for Antenna. It’s another beautiful film with a marvellous storyline; you’ll know when you watch it!

Lines is, however, just the beginning! Raj Kushwaha intends to keep supporting and promoting Rahat Kazmi as well as Shoib Nikash Shah in their future endeavours of making world-class cinema with good scripts thereby, touching million hearts with their magnificent work!Written by Rahat Kazmi & Shakti Singh, the film – Lines has been directed by Hussain Khan and was shot in Kashmir. The film’s poster was unveiled at the Cannes Film Festival in 2019, marking Hina Khan’s big red-carpet debut.

The film, which also stars Farida Jalal in the lead role, has been jointly produced by Rahat Kazmi Films, Tariq Khan Productions, and Zeba Sajid Films while co-produced under Hina & Rocky Jaiswal’s production venture, Hiro’s Faar Better Films and Alpha Productions in association with Seven Two Creations as well as Assad Motion Pictures.
