Krish, the original director of Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi, was ousted from the set after Kangana Ranaut took over the reins. While it was said Krish had left because he had prior commitments, we hear that he was not allowed to come on the set. And not everyone was happy with this decision. Sonu Sood, who was part of the original cast, stepped away from the film after this! Kangana went on to allege that Sonu had walked out of Manikarnika because of her being a female director. But Sonu cleared the reports by saying it was difficult to work with two directors on film.

Talking about it in more details, Sonu Sood revealed to us exclusively, “I’ve worked with Farah Khan, she was a female director and one of my best friends. So generally people who know that, know it’s not true that I walked out because of Kangana being a female director. When you have worked with a director for 45 days and you see him working so hard on a script, and then to suddenly see that the director is not allowed on the set. And an actor wants to direct the movie, it is very heartbreaking, for all the actors on the sets. Suddenly you have to listen to someone else. And suddenly someone wants to mould a film according to his/her view.”

It obviously changed the dynamics of the whole cast and team in a negative way. Sonu iterated, “I wanted my director back on the set. Almost two-and-a-half years of his life he gave to this movie. And suddenly, I cannot report to a new director. As an actor I won’t ever be able to do that.” So that’s the reason from the horse’s mouth. Not everybody would say it upfront as it is. But Sonu is pretty clear about his reasons for walking out of the film. What is your take on this new development? Share your thoughts in the comments section below!
