Filmmaker Ritesh Batra to work with Julia Roberts!

Making a grand debut with Irrfan Khan starrer The Lunchbox in 2013, filmmaker Ritesh Batra went on to try his hand in Hollywood where he directed two English-language films. He came back to India with his Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Sanya Malhotra starrer romantic drama Photograph. Although it was a failure at the box office, it is still winning accolades and awards at various International Film Festivals. But now, Batra has returned to Hollywood again.

Reportedly, the filmmaker’s next project will be a Hollywood adaptation of Chris Cleave’s best-selling novel, Little Bee (2008). The story features a young Nigerian asylum-seeker and a British magazine editor, who meet each other during the oil conflict in the Niger Delta, and are reunited in England several years later.

Oscar-winning actress Julia Roberts will be starring as the protagonist in this film besides producing it under her banner Red Om Films, along with Gil Netter Productions. Currently the film is in its pre-production phase and will soon go on  the floors.
