Hellboy fans can now rejoice as the cinematic treat is all set to hit the theatres on April 12. And this time around the fans will be thrilled to know that helming the reboot of Hellboy is the highly-acclaimed director Neil Marshall. Yes, the British filmmaker who is best-known for some of the most-appreciated episodes of Game of Thrones has been roped in to re-imagine and bring Hellboyto the big screens. A Lawrence Gordon/Lloyd Levin production starring David Harbour (of Stranger Things fame), the film boasts of some of the most fantastic high-octane action sequences the series has ever witnessed. Topped with breathtaking visuals and intriguing plotlines, Marshall’s Hellboy is promising to be the best yet from the Hellboy universe, which is based on the graphic novels by Mike Mignola.

Talking about roping in Neil Marshall, the makers exclusively share that they required a director with the correct genre aptitude fulfilling their objective of bringing Hellboy into the present day with a horror-driven sensibility. They admit to being amazed with Neil Marshall’s work. From his deft treatment of episodes of blockbuster HBO series Game of Thrones and Westworld to his film The Descent, which producer Lloyd Levin calls “one of the best horror films of the 21st century,” they were impressed by the profundity of Marshall’s screen works.

Lloyd Levin says, “We wanted a director who could handle both horror and action, and also be strong with character — in particular, that dry, near-gallows humor that often comes out of Hellboy.” The producer adds, “Our intent was to set this film squarely in our world, rather than have it be fantasy with a capital ‘F.’ Neil’s work very much reflected that.”

A reboot of the Hellboy film series, this one directed by Neil Marshall stars David Harbour in the titular role. A Lawrence Gordon/Lloyd Levin production, PVR Pictures and MVP Entertainment will release Hellboy in India on April 12.
