Here’s why the gay commmunity appreciates Fawad Khan’s character in Kapoor and Sons

While Sonam Kapoor brilliantly played a lesbian character in her last film Ek Ladi Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga, Fawad Khan had also effortlessly pulled off a gay character in Kapoor and Sons Since 1921 (2016). In fact, his character was etched out so well that the gay community appreciates it till date. Recently, Kashish and the Humsafar Trust conducted a session with the Screen Writers Association giving them advice on how to portray a gay character onscreen.

In a statement to the press, a reprsentative – Sridhar Rangayan said that “ Kapoor And Sons is one film that the gay community appreciates. “It is part of a larger story, it’s not like the entire focus was on him (Fawad Khan’s character, who comes out of the closet in the film). But it was a great idea in terms of the way the story was integrated and dealt with a lot of empathy. He was not a good man or a bad man; he was just a human being. That most of us appreciate.”
