The industry was left shocked when Hrithik Roshan revealed news about his father, the veteran actor-filmmaker Rakesh Roshan, undergoing surgery after being detected with early stage squamous cell carcinoma of the throat. Early Tuesday, the actor had posted on social media about his father undergoing surgery for cancer. The senior filmmaker was operated in a Mumbai hospital on Tuesday. Wishes continued to pour in at the Roshan household from the film industry as well as well-wishers and fans, wishing senior Roshan a quick recovery and prayers for his good health. A few hours later, he even tweeted an update about Rakesh Roshan’s throat cancer surgery and here’s what he had to say!

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had tweeted, “Dear Hrithik, praying for the good health of Shri Rakesh Roshan Ji. He is a fighter and I am sure he will face this challenge with utmost courage. @RakeshRoshan_N.” This is the tweet to which Hrithik tweeted back and informed everyone that the surgery had gone well. He wrote, “Thank you Sir for your concern and good wishes. I am very happy to inform that according to the doctors his surgery has gone off well.”

The veteran filmmaker’s brother, music director Rajesh Roshan too confirmed to a daily about him recovering well. On Tuesday, Hrithik had shared a picture of him and dad hitting their gym before the scheduled surgery later in the day. “Asked my dad for a picture this morning. Knew he wouldnt miss gym on surgery day. He is probably the strongest man I know. Got diagnosed with early stage squamous cell carcinoma of the throat a few weeks ago, but he is in full spirits today as he proceeds to battle it. As a family we are fortunate and blessed to have a leader like him. Love you Dad,” his post read.
