Imali: Is Deepika Padukone confirmed for Anurag Basu’s film? Here’s what the director has to say

Earlier last month we informed you how Anurag Basu has approached Deepika Padukone to play the lead in his directorial Imali after Kangana Ranaut walked out. And today (June 22), the director has confirmed that he has approached Deepika but is waiting for a confirmation from her end. In case you don’t know, Kangana walked out of the film because date issues.

Talking to a leading daily, Anurag Basu revealed that Kangana walked out of the project because the dates were clashing with the shoot schedules of her other films. The film was supposed to go on floors last November but Kangana was busy withManikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi and Panga. Further he went on to confirm that he has approached Deepika Padukone and said, “I cannot confirm till she confirms anything. I did meet her. She has to confirm it to me and then we can confirm it to others.”

Anurag is right now working on the film starring Fatima Sana Shaikh, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sanya Malhotra, Abhishek Bachchan and Rajkummar Rao in lead roles. As for Deepika, she recently wrapped her next film Chhapaak and is shooting for ’83. And Kangana is gearing for the release of her film Mental Hai Kya.
