Independence Day: Celebs Share What Independence Means To Them

Ahead of Independence Day On August 15, celebrities have shared what being independent means to them. Here’s what they said:

Independence is doing what you want to do without being questioned. Life is here and now. My favorite freedom fighter is Bhagat Singh. He sacrificed his life for the country at such a young age which is commendable. One of my favorite patriotic songs is “Aisa Des Hai Mera” from the movie “Veer-Zaara”.

Mrunal Jain

Independence means I should be recognized as an Indian. I shouldn’t be asked whether I am a Marwari, Punjabi, Marathi or Madrasi. My favorite freedom fighters are Mahatma Gandhi and Bhagat Singhji. They devoted their lives for the country which set an example and gave meaning to their lives. My favorite patriotic song is “Mera Karma Tu” from the film “Karma”.

Independence reminds me of the countless lives given during the stuff for independence so that we can live the life we have today. Salute to all the freedom fighters and warriors who sacrificed their lives for freedom. Independence means living your life your own way where you can breathe and think, where you can do things that you want. It’s not about boys or girls, it’s about everybody. My favorite freedom fighter is Subhas Chandra Bose.

Thousands laid down their lives so that our country can celebrate this day. I cannot forget their sacrifices, so all the leaders are my favorite and we all owe them. I connect with the song “I Love My India” from the movie “Pardes” movie. It makes me feel so good. It’s about why we should choose our motherland amongst all the places where we can live. So let’s take a pledge to protect the peace and unity of the country during this pandemic.
