The semi-final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 is on and India is taking on New Zealand today (July 09). The match is being played in Manchester, but whole of India is hooked to their TV or mobile screens, looking at how the match is progressing. Our Bollywood stars are also watching the match. In fact, some have even cancelled their work for it. We spoke to a few celebrities and we must say everyone looks excited about it.

While they cheered for the Men in Blue, Ankita Lokhande, Aahana Kumra, Asha Bhat, Anees Bazmee and Varun Mitra even predicted that the Cricket World Cup 2019 is ours and it will come home soon! They even spoke about their favourites and their plans to watch the semi-final between India and New Zealand. Here’s what they had to say…

# India is in the semi-finals of the Cricket World Cup 2019 and will battle it out with New Zealand for the coveted spot in the finals. How excited are you for the match? And what are your predictions?

Ankita Lokhande: I am super excited for the semi-finals. I am sure that India will definitely make it to the finals. Fingers crossed

Aahana Kumra: I’m very excited about the World Cup semi-finals. Both the teams are fantastic and are in their best form. As an Indian, I would love to see India win the World Cup, so forget the semi-finals, I’m just rooting straight for the World Cup.

Anees Bazmee: I am very excited for the match and am sure India will win against New Zealand and progress to the finals.

Asha Bhat: On a scale of one to 100, an absolute 100! I am pretty confident that our boys are going to win the match.

Varun Mitra: Anyone who knows me knows how important my work is for me. But today, all my work has been put on hold. Meetings have been postponed, beer has been bought, it’s match-time! My predictions are usually wrong in places where my heart is involved, so no point trying to predict. All I want to say is that I have bought enough beer for the finals as well.

# Where are you planning to watch the match?

Ankita Lokhande: I like watching cricket at home with my family and friends. I will mostly be at home for the semi-finals.

Aahana Kumra: I’m shooting, so if I do get some time off, I would like to see the match.

Anees Bazmee: Am planning to watch it with a few close ones in my office, it will be a great get together, all of us cheering for India.

Asha Bhat: I’ll be watching the match at home with my friends.

Varun Mitra: Some of my school friends are in town, so we are all sitting together at our friends’ place and watching the match.

# Do you think Rohit Sharma will hit another century?

Ankita Lokhande: I hope he does. Rohit has surprised everyone with all the five centuries and it will be amazing to watch him make his 6th century in this World Cup.

Aahana Kumra: I think Rohit Sharma is in great form and he is in the hitting streak right now. So he is definitely going to hit another century. I’m totally vouching for it.

Anees Bazmee: Well such things can’t be predicted, but I would love to see that.

Asha Bhat: He has been in such a good form and has been playing amazing cricket throughout, so no doubt about him scoring a century!

# Will India lift the World cup once again?

Ankita Lokhande: Yes. I am really looking forward to the semi-finals and finals. I am sure that India will lift the world cup once again.

Aahana Kumra: I think India will lift the World Cup again. The way they have been playing, it has been fantastic. Our players are in top form and it’s looking so good. Indians just bring so much energy into the stadium.

Anees Bazmee: I am 100 per cent sure that India will win the World Cup once again.

Asha Bhat: I shall hope and pray that it comes home this year! Our team is playing very well, so why not?

Varun Mitra: Yes, I have a feeling they will. The energy in everyone’s body language seems strong and it looks like a team who has already won.

# Which players do you love to see on the field and who are the ones to look out for?

Ankita Lokhande: I love watching Rohit’s batting and I am really impressed with Shami and Bumrah’s performance too.

Aahana Kumra: I love Dhoni. I just want him to be on field all the time. Of course, I also love Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah.

Anees Bazmee: I feel our whole team is great. I’d love to see the same team from the last match being fielded. They might make one change and that is getting in Mohammed Shami and I hope that happens.

Asha Bhat: Every time Bumrah sets out to bowl, I am glued to my TV as I am expecting and pretty confident of him of taking a wicket. He is so talented!

Varun Mitra: Kuldeep Yadav because he is very unique, he’s a left arm china-man spinner. Most left arm spinners spin away from the right hander, but this guy spins it both ways. Rishabh Pant because he is the face of new India, absolutely fearless.

Well, here’s hoping that India win today and we see them in the Cricket World Cup 2019 final. In the meantime, stay tuned to CineBlitz for more news, updates and gossip from the world of entertainment!
