On July 2, a report put out by Google Chrome OTT states that MX Player, Disney+Hotstar and Voot were the Top 3 OTT Platforms for Week 25 of 2021 (June 20 – June 26). In the said week, MX Player’s Indori Ishq occupied the numero uno spot on the Top Shows list and it stood second to Netflix‘s Ray in the list of the Top Binged Shows. Indori Ishq, a young love story that dwells on heartbreak and infidelity, is directed and produced by Samit Kakkad, who has previously made films like Ascharya Chakit, Aayna Ka Bayna, Half Ticket and more. His films have not only done well commercially, they have also been acclaimed critically and loved across the world when they were screened at international festivals.

Talking about his first nine-episode love story for MX Player, Samit says, “My love for challenging content and my faith in the fact that one should follow his or her heart has been hugely validated by the response of the audience to my show, Indori Ishq. I remember the difficulties with which we made this show. We shot extensively in Indore and Mumbai at a lot of locations that have not been tapped, we had COVID restrictions to follow and we had to ensure that at no given time do we compromise on quality. The actors, technicians and the team from MX Player did everything in their capacity to brave all odds and get this show on its feet.

This is a real-life love story of Kunal Marathe, who is also the writer of the show. The show’s story was personal and yet, universal in its appeal and that is what seems to have worked wonders with the audience. I am a ball of emotions right now – there’s gratitude, more confidence to follow my mantra and more zeal to just go out there and do even better content the next time around.”
