Ranveer Singh has all reasons to celebrate as his Gully Boy is inching towards the Rs 100 crore mark. The actor has been receiving raving reviews for his act as a struggling rapper in the Zoya Akhtar film. And the actor is naturally elated. But now that the film has released, Ranveer is also prepping up for his next – Kabir Khan’s sports biopic 83 based on India’s cricket World Cup win of 1983 under the captaincy of Kapil Dev. Ranveer will essay the former cricket captain in the film. However, there’re murmurs about who will play the actor’s wife in the film that is set to roll soon. There were even reports of his wife, actress Deepika Padukone playing his wife on screen too.
In an exclusive chat with CineBlitz, Ranveer reveals if there’s any truth to the rumours! Catching up with the actor, we ask him if Deepika is indeed playing his wife in 83? Ranveer says, “Deepika is at present working on Chhapak. I am really hoping we can explore our creative collaboration again because I know it’s very special.” He further explains, “Both have to be equally excited about it because we understand that our screen pairing is so loved. You know Ram Leela (Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram Leela), Bajirao Mastani, Padmaavat though we were pitted against each other, people loved that drama. So we have such a precious on screen chemistry and equity that we have built over the years that we would hope that and here I will speak for myself I am very keen on it but the material has to be irresistible and I would imagine to be very selective in that process.”
And looks like filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali scores high on the list that would get an instant approval from Ranveer! When asked about Bhansali offering Deepika and him a film together again, Ranveer says excitedly, “I hope that too. Main toh gulati maar ke khade ho jaoonga.“ Well, we do hope to see them pair up on screen soon too. What do you have to say about this hit jodi. Let us know in the comments section below.
