Jehanabad actor Danish Kalra talks about his role in the show

Actor Danish Kalra who was previously seen in Kabir Singh, Bhavesh Joshi Superhero, Neerja and web show Hostages next to feature in Sony LIV’s show Jehanabad – Of Love & War, releasing on 3rd February. Created and written by Rajeev Barnwal, the show is directed by Rajeev Barnwal and co-directed by Satyanshu Singh with Sudhir Mishra as the showrunner. The actor gets candid about his role and working experience with the ensemble cast.

Danish will be seen playing a bihari character. On speaking about how he prepped for his role he tells,”So preparation for was quite challenging for me because I’m originally from Punjab and this character hails from Jehanabad, Bihar. The character Sonu is very different from what I’m in real life. So I had to learn bihari dialect from a coach. Also, I saw some news interviews of people belonging from there and spoke to few local people of Bihar to observe and understand their accent. So that’s how I prepared for this character. ”

Describing his working experience with his co actors Parambhrata, Harshita, Ritwik and others he shares,”Parambrata sir is a thorough professional and comes prepared on set. It feels amazing to see him perform. I used to learn watching him. And Harshita is an effortless actor with such a great body of work. I have been her fan since Mirzapur. Ritwik is such a fantastic actor. He used to be fully immersed in his character on set which was so impressive. Rajat Kapoor sir makes the mood light on set. We used to spend a lot of time together apart from scenes. We use to converse about books, plays, etc without even knowing how the time passed by. Also, Rajesh Jais sir played my mama ji in the show and now we share the same friendly bond in real life. It was a fun experience with all of them.”

Spilling beans on how this show is different from other conventional thrillers he states,”This is different from other conventional thriller because it’s not just a thriller it has thrill, drama, politics, love and comedy. The show would not fit in one specific genre because it has combination of everything. It will be a trip of emotions for audiences. The story is filled filled with love, loss, betrayal, and ultimately, the resilience of the human spirit. It has all the elements such as drama, crime, love and comedy.”
