The legendary success of Ramanand Sagar’s “Ramayan” is no secret. The show revolutionized television, redefining entertainment and catapulting Doordarshan to unprecedented popularity. Now, the channel joins hands with Sagar World Multimedia to present a tale that promises to leave an indelible mark across the nation.
In an exciting collaboration, the makers of “Singham Again” have crafted an intriguing video for “Kaakbhushundi Ramayan,” which will air on Doordarshan. This series aims not only to enlighten us but also to portray the iconic story from a different lens. Audiences can expect a visual spectacle, with captivating moments that will stay etched in their hearts.
The show evokes a nostalgic feeling among viewers, blending high-tech VFX and music to deliver a culturally rich experience with superior technology. “Kaakbhushundi Ramayan – Untold Stories,” produced by Sagar World Multimedia, is set to premiere on Doordarshan (DD1) starting 18th November 2024, airing Monday to Friday at 7:30 PM.

Creative director and producer Shiv Sagar shares his excitement regarding the show and said, “We are thrilled to bring these untold stories from Ramayan and present it in an interesting manner for the audiences to have an unforgettable experience. The series is an amalgamation of advanced techniques, mega scale of production, impressive music and discovering some facts that we have been unaware of.”
The series is helmed by creative director and producer Shiv Sagar, the grandson of the late Dr. Ramanand Sagar, who brought the epic to life in 1987, captivating millions of hearts worldwide. At a time when television was in its nascent stages in India, Ramanand Sagar’s “Ramayan” became the most-watched television series, with an estimated viewership of over a billion people globally. It has been broadcast in over 65 countries and has remained on-air since its first telecast on 25th January 1987.
Sagar World Multimedia, headed by Shiv Sagar, continues the legacy of creating impactful content. Shiv Sagar’s father, Prem Sagar, who was the marketing director of Sagar Arts and an award-winning cinematographer, directed the award-winning series “Vikram Aur Betal” in 1985. This series became the precursor to “Ramayan,” serving as a test-marketing effort for this new genre, which was non-existent at the time.
