Shahid Kapoor’s film Kabir Singh that hit the theatres on June 21 got mixed reviews at the box office. While many enjoyed the film, there was a section of the audience who found the film violent and misogynistic. And Shahid’s family has been very proactive in defending these claims, after wife Mira Kapoor, Brother Ishaan Khatter came in support of Shahid and defended him on social media and now joining the bandwagon is Shahid’s mother Neelima Azeem.
The buzz is that Neelima reportedly said that Kabir Singh doesn’t glorify the character at all. She said that it, instead warns people not to become like the character. Taking examples of some veteran actors like Dilip Kumar and Rajesh Khanna, who played grey roles in the past, Neelima defended her son proudly. Neelima also said that in Hollywood, actors have won Oscars for such characters.
Regardless of the backlash, Kabir Singh is a super hit at the box office. It has earned Rs 134.42 crore in its first week. Stay tuned to CineBlitz for more such updates from Bollywood.
