Kalank has already garnered a lot of attention courtesy its magnificent teaser and all posters that the makers have released so far. Directed by Abhishek Varman, the love saga visually looks stunning and has already impressed one and all with its high production value. While fans loved every bit of the teaser, producer Karan Johar, on the other hand, had to shell out a bomb to shoot the film and make it look grand. We say so because a luxurious set was actually built in Mumbai just for Johar’s magnum opus and its cost was a whopping Rs 10 crore. Read on to know more details.

If you guys were wondering how Karan and his team brought alive the old world charm and the 40s era in the film then let us tell you that beautiful sets were specially built for the shoot of Kalank. There is a scene in the teaser wherein Alia Bhatt is sitting in a boat, heading towards a palace. Well, believe it or not, but that whole palace was built in Filmcity, Mumbai. In the film, though, it will be shown as old Delhi. And KJo spent Rs 10 crore for building that whole set. No wonder, the film looks spectacular. Knowing how important this project is for Karan, it’s not surprising that he has gone all out to make this special film.

Starring Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Aditya Roy Kapur, Madhuri Dixit Nene, Sanjay Dutt and Sonakshi Sinha in the lead, the period drama is slated to release on April 17. The film is co-produced by Dharma Productions, Nadiadwala and Grandson and Fox Star Studios. Even before its release, the magnum opus has got a huge fan base and so now we can’t wait to see what magic Kalank creates on the big screen.
