Karan Johar’s Takht is one of his most ambitious projects ever. The film has some big Bollywood stars in it, namely, Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Vicky Kaushal, Alia Bhatt, Anil Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar and Janhvi Kapoor. Considering the scale, obviously extra planning is needed, especially after Kalank not living up to everyone’s expectations. And it seems Karan Johar is working double hard on a few details from the film. Kalank was Dharma Productions’ first period film, so it not working affected KJo. Now, he is more determined to prove that he and his company can pull-off an epic historical. And hence, he has given Takht a new twist.

A source reveals to us exclusively, “Kalank’s shortcomings have been identified and Karan Johar is working double hard to makeTakht a massive hit. He is going to make it simpler, in terms of dialogues and actions. Some people could not resonate with a complex writing and he wants the film to resonate with the audience, like Jodha Akbar did. So, he might use the same formula for the dialogues of the movie.” Karan Johar is writing the final draft still and he is even going around scouting places to shoot. He will finalise everything soon, post which the shoot for Takht will begin.

Takht will be set during the Mughal era, when Aurangzeb was ruling the kingdom. From what we hear, it will be a fictional depiction of the battle between him and his brother Dara Shikoh for the throne. Karan Johar wants to kickstart shoot by the end of the year and the film would be shot over 6 months. It might get a late 2020 release.
