2018 was a great year for Pankaj Tripathi. He gave a brilliant performance not only in horror comedy Stree but also in the hit web series Mirzapur. The already established actor has even made an appearance in Luka Chuppi and is garnering appreciation for it as well. That’s not all! The actor even took away the Best Supporting Actor award for Stree at the recently held Star Screen Awards. He even has also bagged a role in the Hollywood film Dhaka. But these continuous endeavours don’t stop the man for a second as he has already started working on his next film.

Yes, the versatile actor will be a part of Sharan Sharma’s debut film Kargil Girl. The filn stars Janhvi Kapoor in the lead role. Currently, Tripathi is in Lucknow shooting for this Dharma Productions’ film. He will be essaying the role of Anuj Saxena, the father to Janhvi Kapoor’s character Gunjan Saxena, in the film. Pankaj shared some insights about his role and said in an interview, “I liked the character very much of playing father to Janhvi Kapoor in the film. A great bonding developed between us while working on the sets.” Pankaj joined the team recently and is enjoying the shoot in the nawabi city. “I am having a lot of fun while shooting for the film. Janhvi is a very sincere and well-behaved actress. She respects me a lot and I too respect her for the sincerity and commitment towards her work,” added the 42-year-old.

Talking about the director, Pankaj further said,” Sharan is a very talented director and is well versed with his craft.  It’s an opportunity working under Dharma Productions. They leave no stones unturned to get the right things on board.” The team will be in Lucknow till the first week of March to shoot for the first schedule. Post that, the entire cast and crew will fly back to Mumbai. For those unaware, Gunjan Saxena is the first woman IAF combat pilot who played a very important role during the Kargil War in 1999. She was also awarded Shaurya Chakra for her bravery. The film will also mark Pankaj and Janhvi’s first collaboration for a film.
