Good News Announcement

With many films lined up this year under the Dharma Productions banner, Karan Johar announced the release date of Good News starring Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor

On January 21, Karan Johar on Twitter activated his followers by tweeting that he is going to announce something in an hour. Which he did, and announced the date for the release of Good News. He took to Twitter and said,”#GOODNEWS releases on the 6th of September, 2019!!! AKSHAY KAREENA DILJIT KIARA!!! Directed by RAJ MEHTA!! #capeofgoodfilms@DharmaMovies@akshaykumar#kareena@diljitdosanjh@Advani_Kiara@apoorvamehta18@ShashankKhaitan”. The film stars Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Diljit Dosanjh and Kiara Advani in pivotal roles and is being directed by Raj Mehta. The film is about a couple who want to become parents and are trying to have a baby. So we know why the title is Good News. The plot primarily revolves around the two couples, Akshay –Kareena and Diljit-Kiara. Watching Akshay and Kareena back together on the screen will be fun and with a debutant director on board we might get a fresh perspective too!

Dharma Productions in 2019 has six announced releases including Good News, Brahmastra, Student of The Year 2, Kalank, Kesari and Drive. With the release date slated for September 6, Good News will come out a week before the beginning of the 15-days long Shradh period. The superstitious film industry generally avoids releasing films in this phase, and this year too, no major release is planned between September 13 and September 28. Clearly, from its release on September 6, Dharma’s venture will have a clear run without any major release cutting into its business. That should be Good News for the producers!

How superstitious are you? Do you think it is right to avoid releasing big films in the Shradh period? Write in your comments below.
