AR Rahman’s 99 songs is slated to release in June this year

After taking the music world by storm and winning prestigious awards in the West, AR Rahman made every Indian proud with all his accolades and achievements. Now, he is turning producer and a writer for an ambitious project that has just been announced. Yes, you heard that right. Rahman is going to add two more feathers to his already crowded hat.

The film, in the question, is titled 99 songs and it will showcase a young, passionate love story that will have music as its soul. Breaking the news on social media, Rahman took to Twitter and wrote “I am very excited to announce the release of my very first film as a producer and a writer, 99 songs, a young passionate love story with music as its soul. 99 songs will be released in cinemas in three languages that is Hindi, Tamil and Telugu on June 21, 2019. I thank you all for the love, support and encouragement you have showered me.”

It is said that AR Rahman has been working on this project for a few years now. In that case, it’s amazing to know that his production venture will now go on floors pretty soon. 99 songs is being helmed by Vishwesh Krishnamoorthy and are backed by AR Rahman’s productions company Y M Movies and Jio Studios. The romantic musical will feature newcomers – Ehan Bhat, Edilsy Varghese and Tenzin Dalha. 2019 has turned out to be rather special for the musical maestro because he recently even teamed up with Marvel India to compose a special song in Hindi for the upcoming and the much-awaited film, Avengers Endgame.
