BJP youth wing leader Priyanka Sharma granted bail- read details

Priyanka Sharma was recently taken into custody for making a meme of Mamata Banerjee’s face morphed onto Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ Met Gala 2019 look. After posting the meme on Facebook she was arrested on May 10 by the West Bengal Police under Section 500 (defamation).

Earlier it was said that Priyanka would be in custody for fourteen days. Now, yesterday (May 13) the Bharatiya Janata Party youth wing leader was granted an immediate bail by the Supreme Court.

As per sources, her arrest had been followed by the protests from the BJP and other social media users. The bench made things clear by saying that Priyanka had been released because she belonged to a political party. Had it been a regular netizen, the situation would have been different.
