Drashti Dhami, Sanaya Irani, Kabir Bedi grace the premiere of Umrao Jaan the musical

Who can ever forget Rekha’s iconic role in the 1981 hit Umrao Jaan. The musical drama had garnered much praise and Rekha’s character received much adulation. The latest news is that for the first time the life of Umrao Jaan will be showcased in a theatre musical.  Last night (May 21), the premiere of Umrao Jaan the musical was held in Mumbai. Celebs from the film and TV industry namely, Shreyas Talpade, Aftab Shivdasani, Zayed Khan, Sonu Nigam,  Kabir Bedi, Karanvir Bohra, Drashti Dhami, Sanaya Irani, Kinshuk Mahajan, Urvashi Dholakia, Juhi Parmar, etc. were present.

Directed by Rajeev Goswami, Umrao Jaan is a journey of a courtesan. It is a story of love and struggle that is immersed in culture and opulence with traditional ghazals, thumris and qawalis. The music is composed by none other than Salim- Sulaiman.
