The massive drive of Mumbai’s Dadar beach clean-up marked its 100th week yesterday (July 21). As per reports, nearly 1,200 Mumbai Netizens and Commando 2 actress Esha Gupta along with beauty pageant winner Naveli Deshmukh came together for the clean-up programme. Titled Big Mumbai Clean-up, the programme was spread across a hundred locations in the city. It was a tribute to the Mumbai civic bodyworkers who work tirelessly to keep the city clean.

The initiative was led by 27-year-old Chinu Kawatra, who said in an interview with a leading daily, “I feel like a Kohli and a Dhoni today, given that we have scored a century. But we need to score more centuries to actually ensure that the beach is clean and plastic-free.”

Even Esha Gupta in an interview said, “A lot of citizens are supporting this initiative. Everyone is realising that we need to make a difference today to have a tomorrow. We have been digging in the sand here since the time we got here because the plastic is all the way inside. If we don’t do this today, there will be plastic on the entire planet tomorrow.”

According to reports, after the clean-up programme, volunteers handed over the waste to civic officials, who will further segregate it into wet and dry waste. What are your thoughts on this? Stay tuned to CineBlitz for the latest updates.
