Adding to the Disney universe’s recent recipe for success at the box-office, another much anticipated live-action remake will be gracing the theatres this summer. Yes, we are talking about the coming-of-age classic The Lion King, which comes hot off the blazing trail of Dumbo and Aladdin (also set to release this year).

The trailer of the same has been released and it’s definitely one to jump up and down for! Directed by Jon Favreau, The Lion King will hit the screens on 19 July and it promises a fantastic premise and an intense score that is sure to take you down the memory lane.

Check out the official trailer here:

The trailer itself included all of our favourite moments from the original, like Mufasa’s teaching moments with Simba, Scar and his hauntingly iconic band of hyenas, the nail-biting yet inevitable wildebeest stampede scene, Simba’s heart-fluttering romance with Nala and of course, how can we forget the wise-cracking Timon and Pumbaa? The final shot of the trailer saw the glorious duo clip-clopping through the jungle to the beat of their own care-free singing, further compelling us to pre-book our tickets for the show right then and there! The all-star cast includes Donald Glover as Simba, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter as Nala, James Earl Jones as Mufasa, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa and Billy Eichner as Timon. Keegan Michael-Key, John Oliver, Alfre Woodard and many others have supporting roles in the film.
