Henna BrarThe Lok Sabha Elections 2019 are underway and there was some unsettling news coming in from Bengal. There has been a clash between TMC workers and security personnel at polling booth 199 in Asansol that led to BJP candidate Babul Supriyo’s car being vandalised in the middle of this violence. The reason – “no BJP polling agent was present at the booth”, said a TMC polling agent. Babul Supriyo is fighting for the Asansol seat opposite actress-turned-politician Moon Moon Sen.
Babul Supriyo has reacted to the vandalism cause saying, “If this was a surprise to me that they would do this intimidation, tactics, then I would have reacted in a different manner.” The Election Commission had earlier committed on central forces manning the booths in Asansol, which hasn’t been fulfilled.
This supposedly angered the villagers who have refused to vote till they have the proper security to do so. However, the EC has a completely different take to offer. Keep following CineBlitz for those updates.
