Who doesn’t get excited about festivals? There is so much to celebrate, plus all the rituals and traditions make the occasion all the more special. As we all gear up to celebrate the festival of Holi, superstar Madhuri Dixit Nene, on the other hand, has added a variety of hues to a dog’s life. Yes, the actress has adopted a dog along with her husband Dr Shriram Nene. Word has it that it was Madhuri and Dr Shriram Nene’s friends at the PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) who told them about an abandoned puppy that had been rescued by the group. Without any hesitation or a second thought, the couple adopted the pup and their timing was perfect. We say so because they got the pup home on their son Arin’s birthday which was on March 17.

Well, this isn’t the first time that the couple has given a home to a dog. Earlier, they had adopted a dog named Riya who sadly passed away due to cancer last year. Anyway, the Kalank heroine took to Instagram and introduced the latest member of her family to the world. Sharing a few pictures, the dhak dhak girl wrote on her Insta feed, “The smiles on our faces show how this little pup stole our hearts! Welcome to the family Carmelo Nene. I urge all animal lovers to adopt pets & see how they fill your life with joy.” Check out her Insta post:

Talking about Madhuri and her hubby always coming forward to help those animals in need, Sachin Bangera, the associate director of PETA India said, “Madhuri and Shriram have always stepped up to help animals in distress, including by calling PETA India whenever they see an animal in need. There are so many dogs waiting in shelters for loving homes. When people buy ones deliberately bred for sale instead of adopting those in need, the wonderful dogs at shelters lose a chance to find a good home.”

In 2013, Madhuri and Shriram Nene had also helped in rescuing seven puppies who were struggling for their lives after being drenched in rains. That’s not all! The dancing diva had even written a letter on behalf of PETA India to the officials in Assam after she learnt about elephants being killed mercilessly in the state. Now that’s amazing, right? Guess we need more people like Madhuri to make this world a better place for animals.

Work wise, Madhuri is currently gearing up for the release of her much-awaited film Kalank co-starring Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditya Roy Kapur and Sanjay Dutt. Also, her first Marathi production venture 15 August will release on March 29 on Netlfix.
