Jaaved Jaaferi’s son Meezaan Jaaferi along with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s niece Sharmin Segal will be making their debut in Malaal that’s bankrolled by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The film’s trailer has been receiving rave reviews since its release and more so, the actors have been earning praise for their acting skills as well. As the film’s release draws near, we are sure you didn’t know this little-known fact about Meezaan.
It is known that Meezaan had previously worked with SLB on the sets of Ranveer Singh-Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra-starrer Bajirao Mastani. And it was on the sets of this film that SLB saw an actor in Meezaan. The Malaal actor then went on to collaborate with the producer on Padmaavat that starred Shahid Kapoor, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone.
Meezaan recently revealed that he was a stand-in for Ranveer’s character Alauddin Khilji in Padamaavat. In an interview with a leading daily, he shared an anecdote from the sets of Padmaavat. He said, “I was assisting Sanjay sir on Padmaavat. One day, they were discussing how difficult it would be to shoot certain scenes as Ranveer was unavailable. To my surprise, Sanjay sir said that I should do it. The next day, I was asked to memorise all of Ranveer’s gestures and lines.”
Malaal, directed by Mangesh Hadawale is set to hit theatres on July 5. Stay tuned to CineBlitz for more updates on Bollywood news.
