The Oscars 2019 was an exciting event that also had many pleasant surprises in store. India-based Period. End of Sentence made it to the nominations and turns out the film has won the Best Short Documentary award and we are happy for it. Guneet Monga, one of the producers on the film was the only India representative at the event and her film has received the prestigious award. The Indian film industry is obviously elated and took to social media to express their happiness and congratulate Guneet on the win.
Several B-townies took to their Twitter handles to appreciate Guneet and her efforts. Shabana Azmi, Dia Mirza and Neha Dhupia are the few names to put up tweets to congratulate the film. Shabana put up a tweet and said, “Awesome ! Congratulations @guneetm you do us proud”. Clearly a big pat on the shoulder for Guneet. Neha Dhupia who has always stood for women rights and hygiene said in her tweet, “What a great time for women in film… congratulations @guneetm and @sikhyaent on your #Oscar win for #Periodendofsentence … what a huge moment. We are all so proud of you. Time to tune into @NetflixIndia n watch this beautiful documentary all over again!” true that Neha. And like wise many Bollywood celebs are pouring in wishes and this will continue. We wish Guneet more victories, her film has already excelled the limit of victory we can only rejoice it.

Directed by Rayka Zehtabchi, Period. End of Sentence talks about sanitation and the progress in the awareness of menstrual health in India. Based in the Hapur village the film follows a group of ladies who have started a unit for producing sanitary pads. The film also features the real Padman, Arunachalam Muruganantham. The film winning an Oscar brought the spotlight on the developing and progressive side of our nation.
