Jaina ShahRakul Preet Singh who was last seen in NGK is gearing up for her next big release Manmadhudu 2. However, in the trailer, the actress can be seen smoking, and did not go down well with many who started picking up on her for promoting it. In a recent interview though, the actress gave a fitting reply to the trolls.
During a recent media interaction, Rakul compared her character to Shahid Kapoor’s Kabir Singh and said, “In Kabir Singh, Shahid Kapoor smoked cigarettes but that doesn’t mean he is promoting smoking. Smoking in a film doesn’t make me a smoker and I am not promoting it. Shahid Kapoor is essaying the role of Kabir Singh, who is a flawed character and he resorts to those things. In real life, Shahid Kapoor is a vegetarian. People should understand the difference between reel and real-life characters. In Manmadhudu 2, it is Avantika who smokes and it’s her story.”
Revolving around a 50-year-old man, who is struggling to find love in his life, the movie directed by Rahul Ravindran has Nagarjuna, Vennela Kishore, Devadarshini and veteran actress Lakshmi in the lead roles. Besides, actresses Keerthy Suresh and Samantha Akkineni have been roped in to play cameos and the movie has been slated to release on August 9.
