Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has asked the Marathi film and TV industry to prepare guidelines for the resumption of shooting keeping social distancing in mind. Thackeray had held a virtual meeting with Marathi Chitrapat Mahamandal and members of the industry on Wednesday evening.

Some of the prominent members of the Marathi film industry including actor Prashant Damle and producer Nitin Vaidya were part of the virtual meet in which some vital points were raised, including waiving of GST on film production. Uddhav Thackeray has not reacted to the proposal but when he was requested if rents on the sets that are standing in Film city can be reduced as the business of cinema and theatre has got affected, Thackeray was non-committal but added that the state government will take a call on it soon.

On the re-opening of cinemas and theatres, Thackeray clearly said that it won’t be possible as it would mean a large gathering of people which won’t be possible in the current scenario.

Thackeray told the delegation that he didn’t believe that clamping down of lockdown meant everything comes to a standstill. He said that other industries have been allowed to restart their business activities in the non-containment zone and would like the entertainment industry to also start soon.
