Kangana Ranaut’s Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi has been one of the most-anticipated films this month, considering it is a biopic on one of India’s most-loved and revered queen, Rani Laxmibai of Jhansi. Recently, the makers of the film arranged for a special screening of the movie in New Delhi for President Ram Nath Kovind on January 18. The entire cast and crew were present including Kangana at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre where it took place. Post the screening, President Ram Nath Kovind and veteran politico Lal Krishna Advani felicitated the team of Manikarnika.

Kangana, as we know is playing the lead role that is of Rani Laxmi Bai of Jhansi and this will be her first period drama film. The film revolves around the life of the warrior queen, popularly known as Jhansi Ki Rani. The actress reportedly underwent rigorous training – including learning sword fighting and horse-riding – to ace the role as a queen. The film showcases the tough life of Rani Laxmibai and her war against the British East India Company during the Indian Rebellion of 1857.

Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi – directed by Krish and Kangana Ranaut and produced by Zee Studios in association with Kamal Jain, releases on January 25, in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu languages simultaneously. We are naturally excited and can’t wait for the film to release soon!
