The Game of Thrones in India has begun and the coming days will see the Lok Sabha Elections 2019 being conducted in different phases. This time around, Bollywood is showing a very active participation in the political scenario building up this season. While many have stepped into the ring as contenders, some are openly lending support to their favourite party, while others are supporting the ruling government. When Shatrughan Sinha was asked about the same, he had an explanation and said the film industry was the creator of chamcha culture.

Shatrughan Sinha recently made headlines when the actor-turned-politician decided to cut his longtime collaboration with BJP and joined Congress after his tiff with the party. Recently the actor was invited as a guest on the talk show of a leading news channel where he opened up about many things. He was also asked about film industry’s active participation in politics this season and what might be the reason behind it, to which he replied, “There is a fear psychosis everywhere, with this government it is especially the one-man show and a true-man army. The way they have created this fear psychosis the people are so scared right from the parliament to bureaucracy and ofcourse the ministry. Film industry is no exception, though I would say the chamcha culture came from the film industry. By and large it was found by the industry. Now I am sure our friends from the film industry must have given the idea of the junior artists cheering Modi chants. It is all conducted, choreographed and scripted. So our industry fans have mastered, maybe because of fear and also there is this attitude of saluting the chair is quite obvious.”

A few examples of politics meeting Bollywood this election season are Urmila Matondkar joining Congress, Hema Malini and a few more rebooting their stand. Also a few weeks ago we saw Ranveer Singh with a few other contemporaries including Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Karan Johar and a few more flying to the capital to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
