Malaika Arora is no stranger to the hype around her life.

The diva has often been in news for various reasons – be it her troubled marriage with husband-actor Arbaaz Khan or her glam looks on the red carpet or even her workout videos that are true fitness goals for all of us. Lately, she has been grabbing headlines because of her rumoured relationship. Malaika is said to be dating actor Arjun Kapoor and the paparazzi have been diligently reporting their every move around town. While the cameras will continue to follow them, on the other hand, Malaika recently opened up about her divorce to good friend Kareena Kapoor Khan.

Up till now, the 45-year-old had never spoken about her divorce publicly and handled the issue with the utmost dignity and privacy. However, when she appeared on Bebo’s radio show What Women Want, Malaika spoke her heart out and revealed a lot of details about her divorce. She also spoke about the limitations and the struggles that women usually face during such instances. Speaking about the blame game that happens when one goes through a divorce, Malaika said “It’s never, ever easy, like no other major decision in your life. At the end of the day, someone has to be blamed. You always have to point fingers at someone. I think that’s the general human nature to go about things.”

Further, the Chaiyan Chaiyan actress confessed that she and Arbaaz were in an unhappy marriage and therefore decided to part ways in a healthy, mature way. “We did think about a lot of things and weighed every single pro and con. And then we decided, it’s better off that we move our separate ways because we’d just be better people. Because we were two people in a situation making each other extremely unhappy which was impacting everybody else’s life around us,” she said.

When asked about the support she received from her family and friends during this tough time, the model-turned-actress said, “Nobody really encourages you to go right ahead. Even the night before the divorce, I had my family sit with me and ask me, are you sure? I heard this all along and perhaps rightly so because these are the people who worry and care for you.”

Considering Malaika is a role model to many, we are sure her opening up about a topic like a divorce will certainly help a lot of women going through the same.
