Following allegations of sexual harassment made by a former Phantom employee in 2018, filmmaker and co-founder of the production house, Vikas Bahl was asked to step down and the production house was disbanded. The former Phantom employee had brought up her complaint against Bahl in the wake of the MeToo movement, brought to the fore last year by Tanushree Dutta. Bahl’s partners Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane also backed out and supported the girl for what she had revealed. This resulted in the dissolution of their company Phantom Films. Not only that, Bahl’s credits as the director of Super 30 were also on the verge of being dropped!
But now in the latest development, Vikas Bahl has been given a clean chit in this sexual harassment case. The internal complaints committee of Reliance Entertainment, the producer of Super 30 has cleared the filmmaker from charges of sexual harassment as the complainant refused to arrive despite repeated reminders. With the committee clearing Vikas’s name, the makers of Super 30 will have to reinstate his credit as director of the film and it will reflect in the soon to release trailer too.
Confirming the same news, Vikas Bahl’s lawyer Hitesh Jain exclusively told CineBlitz, “Yes, he has been exonerated. The whole fight was to clear the name because his name came in this allegation. And now that his name has been cleared and the fact that he has been given the credit as a director of the film Super 30, life will move on.” He even revealed that the court proceedings will begin on Monday.
Previously, Kangana Ranaut had also expressed how the Queen director made her uncomfortable many times. Stay tuned to CineBlitz for more such news and updates.
