In a recent turn of events, over 49 celebrated artists and celebrities have written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the increase in the number of mob lynching cases across the country. Director Vivek Agnihotri however, has a different take. He calls the celebrities involved with the letter pseudo-intellectuals and also has many questions for them.
While talking to CineBlitz exclusively, Vivek called all the celebrities who have written the letter, leftists and Congress Party supporters. He even compares them to the urban naxal mafias. Vivek said, “This is nothing, all these people are usual suspects who are basically leftists and they have been patronised by Congress for so long because Congress wanted leftist support. And directly or indirectly they are a part of a very large urban naxal mafia. They keep writing these letters just to come back in prominence because they have lost their political capital.”
Vivek also had a few questions for these celebs. He said, “Now if they are so upset about mob lynching of minority, then what had happened to them when in 1984 thousands of Sikhs were butchered by Rajiv Gandhi’s goons. Why were they quiet when thousands of Kashmiri Hindus were lynched by the Muslim population in Kashmir and Hindus were minority in that State? What happens to them when Poojaris are killed and in West Bengal so many Hindus were killed? The problem is that they are so used to play this Muslim politics which they call minority politics but they exclude Sikhs, Jews, Christians and Iranis from that. And they do not acknowledge when Hindus are minority anywhere. So they are all funded by red terror money and Islamic money and this is a political agenda so these are just playing politics like anybody else.”
Furthermore stating the reason behind them standing up and talking about the problem, Vivek called it another political gimmick after ‘award wapsi’. “Immediately after 2014 when they lost badly they came with intolerance and awards wapsi. So, now again they have lost and have come up with this new political gimmick. I don’t give much importance to what they say. Yes, if a common man from the affected states stands up and says it is a problem of intolerance, I will believe him more than all these pseudo intellectuals,” said Vivek.
