The film will witness Mrunal Thakur essaying a cop character for the first time and be part of a brand new genre of that of a thriller film for the first time. The actor has in a short span already shown that she’s not afraid to constantly experiment with her roles and the genres of films she picks.
Speaking about why she chose to be part of the film, she said “Gumraah is a brand news which I wanted to explore, it’s something that I have never done before. Murder mysteries and thrillers are my favourite genre and hence I was instantly convinced when I was offered the film. I have been lucky to be working on films from across genres and I’m glad to be part of this film for its absolute thrill element. Even if the plot of the movie is adapted, our director Vardhan’s take was different, the way it is shot and the treatment it got is completely fresh. He is crystal clear about his vision, his shots, and what he wants from his actor.”
Helmed by debutant director Vardhan Ketkar the film is being produced by Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series and Murad Khetani’s Cine1 Studios. GUMRAAH is to release in cinemas on the 7th of April, 2023.
