National award-winning actress and director Neena Gupta made her comeback in 2018 with the super hit film Badhaai Ho. Gupta, who starred alongside Ayushmann Khurrana and Sanya Malhotra, received a lot of praise for her nuanced performance in the film. She played the role of a married woman in her late 50’s that accidentally gets pregnant and causes embarrassment for her young son. Neena Gupta’s performance was captivating in spite of it being such a taboo subject still in India.
And now according to media reports, Neena Gupta is all set to start working on the sequel of her hit show Saans. The actor will be directing Saans 2. Speaking to a publication, Gupta said, “I have pitched the idea to a few makers, and I am awaiting confirmation from them. I am also looking for a platform to showcase the show. However, I have made the pilot, and everything is ready. We will roll once things work out.” Since all the talks are at the early stages, the actress was unable to confirm on which platform she intends to release her show. Whether it would be a TV show like the original one or a web series, we don’t know but the latter is a good option considering will help in reaching to a larger audience.

Neena Gupta, however, did give a hint about the storyline and the cast, saying it would be same as the original show. So the story of the sequel would be showing the fictional characters 18 years later and their journey from there on. Gupta, who has always been a very forward-thinking and broad-minded actor, often took up parts that were unconventional and path-breaking in many cases. So we aren’t surprised that she has decided to revisit her hit show and take it forward. The1998 hit show touched upon the subject of complicated marriages and infidelity. The original cast comprised of remarkable actors like Kanwaljit Singh, Kavita Kapoor and Neena Gupta herself as the protagonist.
