Exclusive: A Don’s Nemesis: Ajay Devgn to star in web series on cop’s book on Ravi Pujari?

It was an interesting evening on Sunday at the Mumbai Cricket Association when the Mumbai Commissioner of Police Vivek Phansalkar launched the book of another police officer Dr. Amar Kumar Pandey, titled A Don’s Nemesis.

Dr Amar Kumar Pandey is former Director General of Police, Karnataka State, a decorated officer. A Don’s Nemesis details Dr. Pandey’s experiences while on a chase to and catch the infamous don Ravi Pujari, who was not traceable for 26 years. The book tells the story of the single-handed pursuit of don Ravi Pujari by the author across the globe, and finally extraditing him from Senegal.

A Don’s Nemesis was unveiled in the presence of dignitaries from the police, civil society, the press and the film industry, with the chief guest being CP Vivek Phansalkar. This is Dr. Pandey’s second book.

Not only was it a book launch, but also an announcement platform for a web series to be made on A Don’s nemesis. Producer Rakesh Dang and director Umesh Shukla announced a web series on the book and how preparations are on for the shoot, with the script being locked.

Now, Cine Blitz has exclusively learnt that Bollywood action star Ajay Devgn is most likely to be approached to play the lead in the web series on A Don’s Nemesis! Devgn was recently seen in the lead in his directorial Bholaa. The film did average business. The actor was also seen in a web series Rudra: The Edge of Darkness on Disney+ Hotstar in 2022. We have learnt from a direct source that Devgn is being considered for the web series, most likely to play the role of Dr. Pandey.

“A Don’s Nemesis talks about the journey of getting Don Ravi Pujari to face the law in India and make him answerable to the citizens of the proud nation. It is an important case in my service as a Police officer and I think the journey needs to reach everyone to understand the diligent work of Indian Police Officers and the unshakeable faith in the fact that the perpetrators would always be brought to justice,” said Dr. Amar Kumar Pandey at the book launch.

Filmmaker Umesh Shukla, who will be helming the web series, said about the book, “A Don’s Nemesis is an insightful journey of Dr. Amar Kumar Pandey and it’s a story which I think every Indian should know about. It is an inspiration and showcases the dedication of our Indian Police Force to bring justice at any cost.”
