In a super exclusive news brought to you by Cine Blitz, Oscar-nominated film RRR’s director SS Rajamouli was seen in a closed door meeting with Netflix co-chief executive officer Ted Sarandos in Mumbai on Saturday, February 18. We saw it!
The meeting happened right after the chat between filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Ted Sarandos at the high-profile teaser launch of the web series Heeramandi at the St. Regis hotel in Mumbai.
Just as we were exchanging pleasantries with Sarandos, who was impeccably dressed in a black Indian kurta, in walked SS Rajamouli, and the two headed to the private lounge on the floor. We managed to get a sneak peek into the lounge and saw them seated on luxurious white sofas and having a chat!
While it may be just a ‘Hello’ from the RRR man to Sarandos, as we know, two important people in the entertainment industry won’t meet without a reason. And so this meeting may lead to something exciting between the forerunner for the Oscar Award and Netflix!
We reckon it could be the revival of the web series Baahubali, based on the hit film franchise directed by Rajamouli. It may be recalled that Rajamouli had dissociated with the web series Baahubali after a fallout with the producers. There were rumours that Netflix may talk to the RRR man directly for it.
Incidentally, both and RRR have both been written by Rajamouli’s father K Vijayendra Prasad. The revival of Baahubali could be the reason Sarandos and Rajamouli met in Central Mumbai at a premium hotel! Or it simply could be a chat post the Oscar nomination and Golden Globes 2023 win for RRR. But it definitely looks like it’s leading somewhere, especially because Netflix has just announced their long-term commitment to the Indian market.
The two could meet again at the Netflix party tonight at Yash Raj Studios in the heart of Bollywood. Watch this space for more!
