Savi Sidhu gets a call for an audition 1

Most of us have already seen the video of an actor who is now working as a security guard, Savi Sidhu. Here is a ray of hope for everyone as the actor has started getting offers and today he is giving his first audition after a very long time. The actor who had to leave the profession due to his illness and then was out of work might soon get back in the game. Here are all the details you need to know.

It was only yesterday that we all came across a video featuring a security guard, and initially, we were confused about who this person was. Turned out, the guard used to be an actor who had acted in films like Gulaal, Black Friday and Patiala House. Savi Sidhu had to take a break from acting as his health was not supporting him but when he regained his health, the calls had already stopped coming. After his story broke the internet and went viral, today he finally got his first call for an audition after a very long time and he is very happy. “I have been approached by a director named Manish who is starting his next project and wants to audition me. The audition is scheduled at 8:00 pm today,” said Savi who is excited about his audition. Savi also told us that the production house sent him Rs. 500 for conveyance to reach the office. The Gulaal actor doesn’t know the name of the production house or even the director’s last name, as his excitement knew no bounds when he heard about the audition, and all these details went unnoticed. We’ve all been there, no?

While Savi goes for his first audition after a long time, we are super happy and excited, as today, the internet has shown its good side and it is on such days that we can positively call it a boon. For more updates and gossip from the world of Bollywood, stay tuned to CineBlitz!

Ishaan Khatter chooses Vishal Bhardwaj over Mira Nair?

Did Ishaan Khatter opt out of Mira Nair’s A Suitable Boy after he was offered Midnight’s Children by Vishal Bhardwaj?

Published at

on

We had earlier exclusively reported about Ishaan Khatter being in talks with Vishal Bhardwaj for a project. Well, looks like the deal has almost been sealed and finalised. Ishaan will be working in Bhardwaj’s adaptation of Salman Rushdie’s novel Midnight’s Children for the OTT platform Netflix.

However, buzz is that there was a catch. As per insiders, before being approached by Bhardwaj, the Dhadak actor had already committed his dates to Mira Nair’s eight-part series adaptation of Vikram Seth’s 1993 novel A Suitable Boy that the filmmaker was making for BBC. But when Bhardwaj’s offer came by, the young star ditched Nair, opting instead to work with Vishal. He did this because Bhardwaj was the one who gave his brother Shahid Kapoor some of the most career-defining roles, including Kaminey and Haider. He felt Bhardwaj’s adaptation of Salman Rushdie’s novel Midnight’s Children would work more for him as his third project.

Randeep Hooda has finally bagged the role in Mira Nair’s project. Ishaan, on the other hand found it tough to turn down Bhardwaj as the young actor is a huge fan of his films and has always wanted to work with him. While he greatly admires Nair too, when it comes to choosing, the actor has clearly shown his preference.

Mental Hai Kya: Indian Psychiatric Society to address media tomorrow

The Indian Psychiatric Society has strongly objected to the title and the teasers of Mental Hai Kya

The Indian Psychiatric Soceity (IPS) has written to the Central Board of Film and Certification (CBFC) , the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, as well as to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) calling the title of the movie Mental Hai Kya as “discriminative, stigmatising, degrading and inhuman in projecting mental disorders and persons.” Vinay Kumar the Honorary General Secretary of the Indian Psychiatric Society has issued an official statement to the respective bodies. They are also going to hold a press conference tomorrow in Delhi to address the same. Here is the statement-

“The title #MENTAL_HAI_KYA is clearly derogatory to people fighting with their mental maladies. It is sarcastic and ridicules persons in pain. Experts and activists are trying to tell people that nobody is mental or mad. Having mental illness is neither a crime nor a curse. These are diseases which afflict people and are curable and largely manageable. It’s unethical to call them mentally ill. But the title of the film loudly ridicules persons with mental illness which is not only unethical and inhuman but also illegal.

#Section 92 of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act says :
Whoever,—
(a) intentionally insults or intimidates with intent to humiliate a person with disability in any place within public view; ………….
shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which shall not be less than six months but which may extend to five years and with fine.”

The makers have recently released a poster which shows the two lead actors facing each other as they balance a blade between their tongues. Brilliant imagination! But can we call it creative too? The fact is that this sensational imagination is a perfect example of pathological risk taking behavior. In a time when India is facing rise in delinquency and personality disorders marked by risk taking behaviors such as drug and alcohol use, speedy driving, risky selfie taking etc “creating such provocative ideals” amounts to crime.

Indian Psychiatric Society strongly condemns the title and poster of the film and appeal the producer to withdraw these teasers and revise the title and content too if it has any such provocative sequence, dialogue or song. The logic of creativity and freedom of expression do not permit our creative film makers to hurt the sentiments of sufferers and caregivers and provoke our youngsters to risk their lives.”
