Priyanka Chopra Jonas kickstarted the Asia-Pacific promotions of her Prime Video show Citadel in Mumbai on April 3 at a high-profile media meet held at the St. Regis hotel in Lower Parel. The actress spoke about the science-fiction show and how difficult it was to shoot sometimes. She also talked about working with actor Richard Madden, who was present on stage at the press do with her. The two also talked about the very realistic production design of the sets of Citadel.

At the Citadel meet where CineBlitz was present, Priyanka Chopra also got candid about her recent revelations on a podcast of being outcast from Bollywood 10 years ago.

Here’s what Priyanka Chopra said about her recent revelations about Bollywood:

At the Citadel press conference, Priyanka Chopra revealed why she decided to confess that she was boycotted by certain camps in Bollywood and that therefore she pursued a career in acting and music in Hollywood.

“When I was on the podcast, I was asked about the journey of my life, and I spoke about when I was young, when I was 10, when I was 15, 22, 30, 40, whatever…Umm, so, I was talking about the truth of my journey. I think now I was confident enough to talk about that phase of my life. I think, now where I am, I was OK enough to kind of articulate what I felt. I had a very tumultuous relationship with what occurred but I forgave and moved on a long time ago, and then I made my peace with it…and that’s why it was easy for me to talk about it in an open manner, in a safe space,” said Priyanka.

There were accusations and insinuations by several people over the years, including actress Kangana Ranaut and screenwriter Apurva Asrani that Bollywood operates in camps. Both Ranaut and Asrani have mentioned about a particular camp who goes against anybody who doesn’t fit into their scheme of things or has rejected them. Both have also openly supported Priyanka after her podcast interview exposé.

What Priyanka Chopra had said on the controversial podcast?

In an episode of Dax Shepard’s podcast called Armchair Expert, Priyanka Chopra had reportedly revealed about why she left Bollywood. She had said, “I was being pushed into a corner in the industry. I had people not casting me for reasons, I had beef with people, I am not good at playing that game so I kind of was tired of the politics and I said I needed a break.”

Citadel Episode 1 releases on April 28, 2023, while the premiere in India will be held on April 4. Watch this space for the review of Citadel.
