Even as legendary melody queen Asha Bhosle was receiving birthday bouquets and fond messages on her 91st Birthday on September 8th, elsewhere on the same day, mega-star Deepika Padukone was probably humming a soft lullaby –as macho hubby Ranveer ‘Baba’ and she ‘welcomed their cuddled-beti Baby Girl’ into this world!

What is Deepika’s indirect connection with Asha Bhosle–who has fond regard for her? It was the agile ‘Piku’ girl who Rohan (Ramesh) Sippy singled out to lip-sync and gyrate to the sensuous ‘Dum Maro Dum’ (2011) movie-title recreated song sung by Anushka M. Still, as we all know, Asha Bhosle originally recorded this iconic timeless trance-song for Hare Rama Hare Krishna under genius composer R D Burman’s baton, way back in 1971!

Lead actress Deepika Padukone (of ‘Pathaan’ fame) and Ranveer Singh (of ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ fame) welcomed their first child, a bonny baby-angel girl, on Sunday. The baby was delivered at Mumbai’s HN Reliance Hospital in the Charni Road area in central Mumbai. The charismatic power couple Deep-Veer duo shared a joint ribbon-framed post which read, “8th September 2024, Welcome Baby Girl”.

It may be recalled that tall stunning Padukone married Ranveer Singh in a picturesque lavish ceremony at Lake Como, Italy on November 14, 2018. Almost six years later they have proudly embraced ‘parenthood’.

Only recently, Deepika and Ranveer posted pictures from their maternity photo shoot, where she was seen happily flaunting her bulging ‘baby bump’ with Ranveer by her side.

It is being avidly surmised that Deepika and Ranveer might soon move into their swanky palatial apartment in Bandra Land’s End, next to superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s bungalow Mannat. The dynamic couple will move into the new spacious residence, occupying floors 16 to 19 of the building, having a private terrace.

Currently, on her ‘maternity leave’ break, it is believed that Deepika plans on resuming work in April 2025 and would like to dedicate the next six months to her newborn. Apparently, Padukone will then get busy with filming the sequel of Kalki 2898 AD along with three co-superstars Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, and Prabhas. What is a mystifying unique coincidence that during her pregnancy Deepika shot as a ‘pregnant’ screen character ‘Sumathi’ SUM-80’ and prophesied mother of Kalki for prequel movie Kalki produced by Southside showman C. Aswani Dutt.

Next, Deepika will be seen as a tough cop in Rohit Shetty’s upcoming ensemble cop drama Singham Again, which also stars Ranveer.

Meanwhile, hubby Ranveer will also be seen in Aditya Dhar’s next action film and Farhan Akhtar’s long-awaited crime drama ‘Don 3’.

As expected, new star parents were flooded with congratulatory messages from their industry close friends like Shah Rukh Khan, Karan Johar, Katrina Kaif, Alia Bhatt, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Shraddha Kapoor, Pooja Hegde, Kriti Sanon, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Parineeti Chopra, Malaika Arora, Suniel Shetty, Sonakshi Sinha, Sonu Sood, Jacqueline Fernandez.

Kareena Kapoor Khan commented, “Congratulations Mommy and Daddy. From Saifu and Bebo. God bless the little angel,” punctuated with red heart emojis.

Call it a spiritual coincidence, that staunch Ganesha-bhakt– Deepika had got herself admitted into the maternity hospital on Saturday, on the special auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. Just the previous day, Ranveer and she visited the sacred Siddhivinayak Temple at Prabhadevi to seek advance blessings for their soon-to-be-delivered ‘bundle of joy’.

A strong possibility, that the little Padukone baby-princess born during the ongoing Ganeshotsav may also be (christened) ‘named’ after one of the sacred female deity names associated with Goddess Parvati or Goddess Gauri (mother-names of Lord Ganesha) or names inspired and associated with Lord Ganesha. Yet another curious coincidence is that Deepika’s mentor and co-star iconic (‘Om Shanti Om’ debut) hero Shah Rukh Khan’s wife’s name is Gauri!
