Oscar-nominated director Ashvin Kumar’s directorial No Fathers In Kashmir is a beautiful film that tells the story of love and loss in Kashmir and brings to the fore yet another beautiful facet of the Valley. The film is all set to introduce Kashmiri music to the audience. No Fathers in Kashmir – starring Soni Razdan, Ashvin Kumar, Anshuman Jha, Kulbushan Kharbanda – has just released its first song titled Chol Homa Roshay and it is soulful. Originally written by celebrated Kashmiri poet, Habba Khatoon, the song’s lyrics are a cry for love and they will definitely strike a chord in the audience’s heart.

Talking about the video, it shows how the two protagonists, Noor and Majid’s friendship blooms. The two kids meet incidentally and start feeling affection for each other. The backdrop of Kashmir and the lyrics make this song extremely dramatic. The song is authentic and true to the folk flavour of the Valley. We even get to see a glimpse of Soni Razdan dancing to the tunes of the song and it is a delight. The film is based on Noor’s search for her father and the aftermath of her journey in her search for truth. The film promises to be an interesting watch. Check out the song right here:

The song interestingly has a vast history. The song was first given life by Ali Saifuddin and then his vocals were given to the music-composer duo – Loik Dury and Christophe ‘Disco’ Minck – in France. They took Ali’s vocals and mixed it, keeping the original Kashmiri feel. No Fathers In Kashmir is all set to hit the theatres on April 5. Thought-provoking and poignant, the film is a must-watch.
