The controversy around Vivek Anand Oberoi’s PM Narendra Modi doesn’t seem to die down. The biopic on the life of current Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was set to release on April 5. However, as we told you exclusively, a delay in the certification process at the Central Board of Film Certification, forced the makers to postpone its release to April 12. But looks like that’s not the end of things. A member of the Congress media panel has now filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking a hold on the film’s release. The plea was heard by a bench led by Justice SA Bobde. Senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi presented the plea on April 4, but Bobde refused to agree for an urgent hearing. The judge said he would deal with it only on April 8 (Monday).

Earlier, the Election Commission had cleared the film. It did not find anything objectionable in the movie for it’s release to be stalled before the Lok Sabha Elections 2019. The Delhi and Mumbai High Courts also refused to come stop the release of PM Narendra Modi. However, the Supreme Court has finally decided to hear the plea. Advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi argued in the court that Vivek Oberoi-starrer would play as an unfair advantage and campaign for the BJP during the campaigning period of the Lok Sabha Elections 2019, that starts on April 11. He also pointed out that it was a violation of the Model Code of Conduct.
