Karan Johar may be making news here for the controversy stirred by the comments made by cricketers Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul on his talk show Koffee With Karan. However, the filmmaker himself is currently in Davos, Switzerland attending the World Economic Forum 2019, as part of the panel discussion on LGBTQ community. And while there, the filmmaker revealed in an interview that he would like to make a movie depicting a gay love story. When the filmmaker was asked about how he could contribute to the LGBTQ community in India, Karan reportedly said that since he was a filmmaker he would try and make movies on the subject.

In the interview, the filmmaker further expressed his wish to make a homosexual love story in which he would want to cast two leading actors. He specified that while he doesn’t have any names of the actors he’d like to cast, but he would definitely love to make that film. The filmmaker reveals that after his multi-starrer period drama Takht that will release in 2020, he would want to ‘bring stories from the LGBTQ community to mainstream Bollywood.’ He however insists that while he would make such films as a filmmaker, he hopes that the audience will accept the theme too.

However, it won’t be Karan’s first tryst with directing a same sex film. KJo’s short film called Ajeeb Dastan Hai Yeh which was part of Bombay Talkies dealt with same sex love. The film starred Randeep Hooda and Saqib Saleem who played lovers in the film. The film had found much appreciation. Meanwhile, the filmmaker there is not only making news for his participation in the panel, but also his fashion is creating quite a style statement there.
