Virat Kohli’s Indian cricket team achieved history in the New Year as the fourth and final Test ended in a draw in Sydney, making his side the first-ever Indian team to win a Test series in Australia after 71 years of sweat, pain and tears. The team achieved a 2-1 series win, making them the first Asian team and fifth overall to have won a Test series in Australia. Virat branded this win as an emotional moment, the head coach, Ravi Shastri said that it was even better than the 1983 World Cup and the 1985 Championship series.
People were quick to congratulate the team on their victory, but amid all the adulation on Twitter, Preity Zinta, the co-owner of the team, Kings XI Punjab of the Indian Premier League franchise got severely trolled for a making a minor mistake while congratulating the India cricket team for their win. While wishing the team on their triumph, the actress called it a test match, while it was a test series that they won.
Here’s what she tweeted: “Congratulations to the boys in blue for being the first Asian team to win a test match down [email protected] take a bow#AUSvsIND #victory #ting #TeamIndia #IndianCricketTeam @BCCI.” The obvious error in her post got social media into trolling mood. And while the tweet has now been deleted from her account, it wasn’t without evoking some fun responses from the Twitterati. Here are people’s replies:
