2019 seems to be an year of controversies for Priya Prakash Varrier. The South actress became an online sensation last year (2018) when a ‘wink-scene’ from her upcoming Malayalam film Oru Adaar Love went viral on the social media. The clip had the actress wink naughtily at her classmate (played by actor Roshan Abdul Rahoof) and had made her an instant hit. However, when the actress kickstarted her Bollywood dreams this year, the teaser of her debut film Sridevi Bungalow, directed by Prasanth Mambully, got her and the makers facing much flak for the uncanny similarities between the film’s protagonist and the legendary star Sridevi who had passed away last year. Even though the makers claim the film to be a thriller, the fact that a scene of the film’s teaser showed the protagonist played by Priya lying dead in a bathtub with sirens heard in the background, hasn’t gone down too well in the industry and with Sri fans. This insensitive portrayal has earned the makers much ire from all quarters.

And now Priya is in trouble yet again. This time for the very same film that had made her an overnight sensation in 2018. The makers of Oru Adaar Love created a stir on the social media recently when they shared a musical romantic teaser of a kissing scene between her and her co-actor Roshan from their soon-to-release South film. And while the one-minute sneak-peek video has gone viral – with over one million views on YouTube – this time around, the cutesy comments have given way to a severe backlash. Directed by Omar Lulu, the film’s scene – which is being brutally trolled – shows Priya share a kiss with her co-star Roshan while in a uniform and in the premise of their school. Check out the video here:

This hasn’t gone down too well with the viewers who feel that the makers have shown the romance in a bad light because the scene has been shot in a school premise. While the lip-lock barely lasts for a few seconds and is more of a quick peck, the viewers are clearly not amused and are trolling the actress and the makers on the social media. Meanwhile, the film that was to release last year will now release on Valentine’s Day (February 14) this year. What do you feel about this? Do let us know in the comments section below.
