Priyanka Chopra – Mindy Kaling’s wedding comedy to be shot in India and we have all the deets

Later last week we saw Global icon Priyanka Chopra Jonas announcing her collaboration with Brooklyn 99 fame Mindy Kaling on a film under the Universal Studios banner. The film is said to be based on a big fat Indian wedding clashing with the American culture. While there was confirmation that a portion of the film will be shot in India, now we also know the locations where the first schedule will be shot.

Priyanka Chopra with Mindy Kaling and Dan Goor will produce the film. In fact, PeeCee will even act in it. About the film being shot in India, it is Delhi and Rajasthan where the first schedule will be shot. The wedding comedy needs unique locations and the team is looking for some in North India. Considering Delhi has some exotic Punjabi wedding and Rajasthan has some amazing palaces, there is a possibility that we might get to see either a Royal wedding or a Punjabi one, in this untitled film. The film is now on the scripting stage, Mindy and Dan are writing it. Once the scripting is over, a production team will fly down to India for a tech recce by August. If everything goes as planned the film will go on floors in November this year.

Back in Bollywood, Priyanka will be next seen in Shonali Bose’s The Sky Is Pink alongside Farhan Akhtar and Zaira Wasim. She is also in talks with the magnum opus director Sanjay Leela Bhansali and if rumours are to be believed it is for a film titled Gangubai. Stay tuned to CineBlitz for more updates.
